JOB DESCRIPTION: Identifies, designs, develops, implements, and revises
software applications to meet business needs. Supports software
applications and associated operating systems. Programs, analyzes and
writes specifications. Devises solutions to system problems. Develops
and tests applications; makes revisions to improve functionality.
Develops and analyzes the effectiveness of new applications and test
procedures. Writes and edits reports to provide recommendations,
conclusions and other data. Performs related responsibilities as
required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: A bachelor's degree in computer science, math,
engineering or a related field and three years of related experience in
programming and software systems or an equivalent combination of
education, training and experience. Knowledge of software development
in a research institution context preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
Technical Skills -
• Experience with implementing and supporting content management systems.
Experience with MS SQL and/or Oracle database and maintenance.
• Experience writing queries in Oracle PL/SQL and writing reports in PeopleSoft SQR.
• Server Maintenance.
• Experience conducting business analysis.
• Ability to mentor others within the IT unit.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems with a minimum of seven years experience of information systems.
• Prefer a high level of proficiency with Cold fusion and Adobe Creative Suite.
• Candidates who presently work in a Higher Education/University setting are highly desired.
• Demonstrated expertise in web development, including database interfacing and support utilizing web and desktop frameworks.
• In-depth technical knowledge, utilizing current industry standards to
implement and maintain data protection and integrity-operating systems,
network security, and authentication.
• Proven ability to setup, manage
and maintain databases: database design and optimization, backup and
recovery, login maintenance, Data and Log Space Maintenance,
Replication, Query Optimization, SQL reporting services, scripting and
automation, Index Tuning, Maintaining clean databases.
• Demonstrated
experience in the documentation of implemented solutions.
• Strong team
player in dynamic, fast pace environment.
• Strong sense of initiative.
• Strong problem-solution skills and attention to detail. • Ability to
meet deadlines, multi-task between projects and triage work requests -
based upon priority and complexity
