    Re: electronic whizbangery

When we were traveling around California few years ago we saved quite a good amount of money by hacking wireless networks Smile This is how it works. By night we stop by a hotel (no reservation of course) go to the lobby and ask if there are any rooms available and what's the price. Then we go back to the car, connect to hotel wireless network, go to travelocity or something and check same hotel and hotels around for prices and deals. Ten minutes later we show up at the same lobby with reservation that most of the time 50% cheaper than originally quoted price. Sometimes even rooms become available in totally booked hotels. And don't forget to ask for breakfast coupons at the check in Wink

Some WEPs are very easy to hack. There are tiny little programs for this you know where ;)

You are talking about cracking! not hacking Stick out tongue

    from http://beemerworld.com/tips/hacker.htm

There is another group of people who loudly call themselves hackers, but aren't. These are people (mainly adolescent males) who get a kick out of breaking into computers and phreaking the phone system. Real hackers call these people `crackers' and want nothing to do with them. Real hackers mostly think crackers are lazy, irresponsible, and not very bright, and object that being able to break security doesn't make you a hacker any more than being able to hotwire cars makes you an automotive engineer. Unfortunately, many journalists and writers have been fooled into using the word `hacker' to describe crackers; this irritates real hackers no end.

    Leah:

Did anyone watch National Treasure: Book of Secrets and do you remember the part where the guy was in the public restroom at Buckingham Palace and hacked everything with his electronic gadgets?  Where and how does one learn to do stuff like that?

probably in the movies like this one. no? :)
