    If Hillary wins tonight

Just a few thoughts on this, the eve of the Indiana, North Carolina primary.   As this is written, the polls are still open.

If Hillary Clinton wins the Indiana and North Carolina primary, the Democrats will be in the biggest political mess in my lifetime.   Let's discuss.

If Hillary wins, it's obvious she has the momentum going into the convention.  Obama and his campaign will be on the ropes.

But....  mathematically, she can't secure the nomination without most all the super delegates going her way.   If Obama is ahead in primary delegates and the super delegates throw the nomination to Hillary, I really can't see the Democratic party uniting under Hillary.   The Blacks and the young, new Democrats who supported Obama will be furious.  The party may even split and offer two nominees in November due to the perception that the old establishment (aka superdelegates)  circumvented the primary process and chose Hillary irregardless of the outcome of the primaries.   Either way, if Hillary wins tonight, the election belongs to McCain.     Don't see a winning combination for the Democrats to make Hillary the nominee unless she wins it outright, which is almost impossible.

Best thing that could happen for the Democrats is that Obama wins tonight and Hillary drops out tomorrow.   But, I don't see that happening either, though the pressure from the superdelegates may drive Hillary from the race under this scenario.

I'll vote for anyone who is not McCain.  Hilary is my preference.

In a perfect world, I'd vote for Ron Paul, but he isn't viable.

Now, that one I don't get - Leah, how can you vote for her ?!?!

Here is what gonna happen, Hillary will get nomination no matter what. Dems will *** for a while, then go vote .....

Best thing for Obama is to jump on Hillary's vice pres ticket.

Obama has the nomination already mathematically, and he's had it for months.

Whether McCain can beat him is a question of unpredictable scandals we are about to experience Big Smile

I've always said, since I've been on this forum, the democratic party is working against themselves.  They had the last 2 presidential elections handed to them on a platter, and managed to somehow lose.  I think they can totally do it again Big Smile

    Re: If Hillary wins tonight

I must say i dislike Hillary a lot less than I did before this campaign.. Even feel sorry for her at times. She is slightly less communist than i thought, and more honest about what she truly stands for.  Unlike her opponent.
But any dems i would consider have long ago dropped out, the party is out of touch with what it takes to win a general election, and has been that way since Bill Clinton spoiled them by winning so easily.

I am still for McCain, hands down, not a doubt in my mind at this point.

I haven't been following closely, but how do you know who's more honest?  As far as I'm concerned, they are all liars.

Yeah, I had this argument w KGBman already.  There are things people have dedicated their lives to, things that you can safely assume define their political careers.  If their campaign rhetoric is in-line with this, at least on those particular pieces, they are being honest.  Things Hillary is talking about now, are things that have consumed her entire career.  For the first time, she is being "herself".  This is the Hillary that was previously familiar only to people who closely follow politics.

    Re: If Hillary wins tonight

exactly.. don't get me wrong i still dislike her :)

By the way, forgot to add... anytime a candidate promises to do unpopular things.. raise taxes for instance.  You are looking at an open book.   Or for McCain - not indiscriminantly pulling out of Iraq.  These are the things where you KNOW they are not lying.

Conversely, you have populist stuff, so if McCain promises to lower taxes, or Clinton/Obama promise to pull out of Iraq - those are, most likely, lies.

    Re: If Hillary wins tonight

Dems are always for raising taxes, so that's not something new or controversial....... I just wanna know what it is Hillary that and more honest about what she truly stands for

my understanding is she's stands for what ever will get her elected and nothing more. Plus those commy ideas that never work.

    p.s.

If she was real commy - I'd vote for her !

God help us all. . .

And what's wrong with taxes if they are spent wisely?
