Just a few thoughts on this, the eve of the Indiana, North Carolina primary. As this is written, the polls are still open.
If Hillary Clinton wins the Indiana and North Carolina primary, the Democrats will be in the biggest political mess in my lifetime. Let's discuss.
If Hillary wins, it's obvious she has the momentum going into the convention. Obama and his campaign will be on the ropes.
But.... mathematically, she can't secure the nomination without most all the super delegates going her way. If Obama is ahead in primary delegates and the super delegates throw the nomination to Hillary, I really can't see the Democratic party uniting under Hillary. The Blacks and the young, new Democrats who supported Obama will be furious. The party may even split and offer two nominees in November due to the perception that the old establishment (aka superdelegates) circumvented the primary process and chose Hillary irregardless of the outcome of the primaries. Either way, if Hillary wins tonight, the election belongs to McCain. Don't see a winning combination for the Democrats to make Hillary the nominee unless she wins it outright, which is almost impossible.
Best thing that could happen for the Democrats is that Obama wins tonight and Hillary drops out tomorrow. But, I don't see that happening either, though the pressure from the superdelegates may drive Hillary from the race under this scenario.
