So set up a new one, install the OS, etc, then hook this one up as slave or secondary physical drive, you should be able to manually move files residing on healthy sectors. You might still need recovery software, but maybe not, and you haven;t really done any extra work or spent any money yet (other than a new drive which you needed anyway). I would not be surprised that anything any recovery software can recover, is exactly trhe same as what you can recover manually.
