Re: Maxim's unsexiest women alive list
I agree with Sergey again... men and women alike don't analyze their definition of "sexy" when they see someone. Someone either strikes them as attractive or not... Most don't dwell on the reasons. They "defining" is left for relationships, where the impulsive reaction starts to fade...

When someone makes a statement, especially publically, that someone should not only provide definitions but also reasons. In my opinion, because today "most don't dwell on the reasons," we live among unthinking, all consuming, overweight people whose life revolves around their couches, remote controls, and screens. Furthermore, how can you say that someone just strikes another individual attractive, and that's it?! It almost sounds like a work of lightening. People find others attractive for various reasons: beautiful face, long neck, feminine hands, long beautiful legs, great figure, great smile, funny, fun to be with, hot, good dresser, great dancer, wealthy, smart, intelligent, etc.

Re: Maxim's unsexiest women alive list
_Sergey_:I can only imagine the audience who vote in such cases. I have doubt normal men will even bother answering. Also giving a serious thought about bunch of jerks knee reactions is way too much undeserved attention.
The problem is that the statement was made publically and in a rather respected magazine, not some tabloid. Another problem is that we don't know who the audience was, all we know that "men" find her the unsexiest woman alive. This implies that all men or most men think that way. Anyway, it was very low for the magazine to make such flawd, and therefore false, claim.

Re: Maxim's unsexiest women alive list
_Sergey_:
I am not sure I see the problem here. Why is it women always have to be sexy? Is this the most important aspect? If yes then women should probably stop talking about their intellect and anything else besides finding the most successfull mate. I admire many women who are not sexy for me and they don't have to be. In fact I find only handful of women sexy. So what?
I understand what you are saying, Sergey, but the reason the list annoyed me enough to post it was the public cruelty and the shallowness of their reasoning. Of course it isn't the most important aspect. Of the things I want people to think about me, sexy falls far, far behind intelligence, character, etc. Nevertheless, I'd probably be hurt and embarrassed if someone proclaimed "Leah is the unsexiest person in the world" (meaning no reasonable person would ever find her attractive at all) in print and for the whole world to see.

Sappho: People find others attractive for various reasons: beautiful face, long neck, feminine hands, long beautiful legs, great figure, great smile, funny, fun to be with, hot, good dresser, great dancer, wealthy, smart, intelligent, etc.
Yes, it's lightning fast. We determine if the person is attractive to us at first sight. They don't have to speak, much less show us their bank account balance. Other stuff comes later. Even you, oh meticulous Sappho, can't deny this.

The lightening does not strike me. If I am attracted to someone, it's because he has the physical characteristics I like/love. There is always a REASON behind my attraction to someone. If someone asks me, why in the world I am attracted to this or that person, I can always find reasons why. Is this so hard to understand? I do not believe an attraction is an unexplainable phenomenon, as you portray it to be.

Re: Maxim's unsexiest women alive list
I think we are talking about different things, Sappho. I'm talking about the reflex "he's hot, he's not." You're talking about someone you can establish a deeper connection with?

Re: Maxim's unsexiest women alive list
I think the initial attraction is irrational. Its coming from parts of the brain we share with fish for gods sakes.. there's been lots of catscan studies of neuron activity in human attraction
It may be easy to describe rationally, but that's mainly a function of one's creativity and imagination. This is why there are a lot of people for whom this is not easy. The actual connection between rational words and real feelings is a self-induced illusion, that's more obvious to some than others.

Re: Maxim's unsexiest women alive list
and on the original topic.. first of all i agree w Leah, but i didn;t know this kind of stuff still bothered anyone..
On why Parker is percieved that way.. The initial attraction of American men to her was pretty positive, before Sex in the City got big. This happens to a certain percentage of female celebrities that have been in the spotlight for a while, because her looks + perky/sexy personality is somehow a lot easier on the eyes than those same looks + years of annoyance of unparalleled proportions of being enticed by one's girlfriends to watch Parker analyze the metaphysical existance of mankind while fornicating with metrosexuals. An annoying woman is NEVER sexy. The sad part.. she was just playing a character.

How do you decide whether someone is hot or not? For instance, in a million years, I would not be attracted to Marc Anthony. He fits nowhere in my description of hot. However, after getting to know him, finding out that he is a singer and very wealthy, I may become attracted to his success, and inevitably to him. It is not a reflex, there is a reason behind you finding someone hot or not.

What do you think of the Russian actress, Inna Churikova? Is she hot or ugly?

While you are being insensitive, you are consistent!
