B.S. It's up to him (a physic or whatever else) to break this stereotype of a nerd. Gyms and decent clothes (even disainer's ones) are pretty cheap in the USA. If he wants to look like a nerd - it's his personal problem. As well as a well-groomed girl (especually a blonde one :o)) with a manicure is not supposed to be a bimbo. And you know it (Blonde_again, I hope you wouldn't mind explaining this to him, dear :o))). Cuz I really have no time now.
